1. Navigate to "Structure" > "Blocks" > "Add Block"
2. Adding a "Block Title" is optional. It is the headline that your site visitors will see. If you do not want a headline/title on your block, leave this field blank.
3. In the "Block Description" field, describe the block in a way that will be easy for you to find it again in a long list of other blocks. Consider using a pattern for naming your blocks that indicates what type of content it is, what parts of your website it will probably appear on, and then the specific content in this block.
4. In the "Block Body" field, add whatever content you want.
5. Click the "Save Block" button at the bottom of the page.

Navigate to: "Content" > "Add content" > "Super Block."

Description

1. In the "Description" field, describe the block in a way that will be easy for you to find it again in a long list of other blocks.
2. Consider using a pattern for naming your blocks that indicates what type of content it is, what parts of your website it will probably appear on, and then the specific content in this block.

Title

1. The "Title" is optional.
2. It is the headline that your site visitors will see.

Image/Primary

1. The "Primary Image" is optional.
2. If you upload an image, always type in the "Alternative Text." Alt text is simply a description of the picture that can be read by web visitors using screen readers.

Image Placement

• When your super block is sized at full width, you have the option of positioning the image on the left or the right side of the block.
• If you entered text, it will wrap around your image.
• The default position is "Left."

​​​Text/Teaser Text

• The "Teaser Text" field is optional.
• It can be used to include text, image(s) or an embedded video.

Link/Jump Link

• The "Jump Link" field is optional.
• Adding a link creates a Highlight Button button for your block. If you have a heading, it will become clickable as well.
• In the "URL" field, type a link to another website, or click the link below that says, "Link to a page or file on this site."
• In the "Title" field, type a human-readable label for your link (e.g., "Learn More," "Read the Full Article," etc.)

Jump Link Location

• This field is required, but you can ignore it if you did not enter a link.
• You can choose to place your Highlight Link button:
  • Below the teaser text and image (the default value), or
  • As an overlay on top of the image. Note: The "Image Overlay" option only works if you uploaded a "Primary Image." ​

Styling/Skin

• This field is required, and determines which of the pre-set design treatments is used for this block. The skin options are:
  • Standard: uses a gray title and a gray Highlight Link button (this is the default value).
  • GT Blue: uses a blue title and a gold Highlight Link button.
  • GT Gold: uses a blue title and a gold Highlight Link button.

When you are all finished, click the "Save" button.

As you are creating or editing a page, you can add blocks directly to the page.

• If you are editing a Multipurpose Page, you can place blocks on your page as sidebars ("Asides"), or in rows ("Articles.") 
• If you are editing a Horizontal Landing Page, you can place blocks in up to four rows: "Block Row 1," "Block Row 2," "Block Row 3," or "Block Row 4."
• If you are editing a Vertical Landing Page, you can place blocks in "Column 1" or "Column 2."
• If you are editing a Basic Page, sorry, but you can't add blocks. Try converting your page to different layout.

1. To add blocks to the page, navigate to any of the fields listed above. 
2. In the empty field, start typing the block description. A list of possible matches will appear.
   
    
3. Click on the block you want to add. 
4. Click the "Save" button.

There is a special kind of Block called a "Menu Block." It can be added to any page. 

What is a Menu Block?

A menu block looks like this:

Add a Menu Block to a Page

1. Follow the same procedure as you would to add a block or super block to a page.
2. In the empty block field type, "Menu."
3. Select "Block - Menu - Main Side menu" from the list.
4. Click the "Save" button.

Configure the Menu Block

1. Exit out of the "Edit" mode to view your page.
2. Hover over the top right-hand corner of the menu block until a little cog appears.
3. Click on the cog, and select "Configure Block" from the dropdown menu.
4. On the next page, type the title in the "Block Title" field.
5. From the "Starting Level" dropdown box, choose the menu level of the page on which you placed the block.
   • For example, every page which is listed in your Primary Menu is Level 1.
   • Any sub-pages under those are Level 2.
   • Any sub-pages under those are Level 3, etc.
   • The Menu Block will only show up on your page if you have chosen the correct "Starting Level".
6. In the "Styling" section, select the style attributes you want to apply to the menu.
7. Click the "Save Block" button.

Notes

• Please note: Any configuration changes you make to the Menu Block will be reflected on every page that the block appears.

Adding a Mercury Block to a page is different than adding a block directly to a page.

Process

1. Go to the page you to which you want to add the Mercury Block.
2. Click the "Edit" tab.
3. Look at your page URL (web address). It should have "node/[a number]/edit" in it.
   
4. Copy the "node/[whatever number is there]" part.
5. In your black admin menu, navigate to "Structure > Blocks."
6. Scroll down the list until you see "Block - Mercury - Events" or "Block - Mercury - News only." 
7. Next to the Mercury Block you want to add to your page, click the "Configure" link.
8. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "Show Block on Specific Pages" section. In the field below it, paste "node/[number]"
   
    
9. Click the "Save Block" button.

When you go back to your page, your Mercury Block will be there!

1. Hover over the upper corner on the right-hand side of your block until a little cog appears.
2. Click the cog, then click "Configure Block."
   
    
3. Make your edits and then click the "Save Block" button.

Editing the content of a Super Block is different from editing a regular block.

1. Hover over the right-hand, top corner of the Block or Super Block.
2. A little cog will appear. Click on "Edit current."
   
    
3. Make your changes to the title, text, images, or link.
4. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

After you have added a Block or Super Block to a page, you can resize it.

Note: The default size setting is "None." What this means is that your block will be resize itself however it needs to be sized when placed next to other blocks. When you choose a size from the "Layout" menu, you are forcing the block to remain a specific size, no matter what.

1. Hover over the right-hand, top corner of the Block or Super Block.
2. A little cog will appear. Click on "Configure Block."
   
    
3. Scroll down to "Layout." Choose a width from the dropdown menu. 
4. Click the "Save Block" button at the bottom of the page.

You can make an exact copy of a Super Block by cloning it.

1. Hover over the right-hand, top corner of the Block or Super Block.
2. A little cog will appear. Click on "Clone."
   
3. You will now have a duplicate of your original Super Block.
4. The "Description" field will begin with "Clone of..." You may keep that description or edit it, plus any other content.
5. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

Note: The size of the Super Block will default back to "None," so you may have to resize the Super Block clone once you've placed it on a page.

1. Hover over the right-hand, top corner of the Block or Super Block.
2. A little cog will appear. Click on "Delete."
   
    
3. On the next page, you will be asked, "Are you sure you want to delete...?" Click the "Delete" button. 

Note: This action cannot be undone.
